Nadine O

Nadine O is a Berlin-based fiction editor turned songwriter, who came to music as a discovery of a language she already possessed. She spent years living inside other people’s worlds: Shakespeare’s ghosts, Cohen’s late-night confessions, the spaces between sentences. At some point, the reading was no longer enough.

She calls her music haunted pop. Somewhere between bedroom pop intimacy and the smoke-stained poetry of late-night confessionals, her songs feel less like performances than overheard thoughts. A voice that balances fragility and restraint. Minimal arrangements that leave room for breath, silence, and emotional aftershocks. She draws on Leonard Cohen’s gravity and Tom Waits’ storytelling, the sensual pull of Lana Del Rey and Portishead, and Mazzy Star’s fragility.

Music and literature remain inseparable in her work – each single is accompanied by an original short story, and each title is a door into another text. "Siren Song" moves in the same lineage as Homer and Margaret Atwood's poem of the same name – and asks what is left of the siren once no one is listening.
